Summary: Stories about the magic going away to pave the path for the modern world just suck. It's almost always a metaphor for the death of fantasy and the onslaught of cynicism. But sometimes, even the tales acknowledge that no one truly wants that. But alas, there might not be much of a choice.

History: Long ago, dragons were the true practitioners of magic, it being their lifeforce. But years of aging made their magic dangerous to the world, and people were forced to slay them in order to keep the magic from wrecking everything. Now, there is only one dragon left, and at the same time, one person who could possibly slay him. Neither are particularly thrilled about the prospect of snuffing out the last traces of magic in the world, but it is an obligation. Of course, that's even IF the human has the skills to do it.

Final Fate: The day of slaying happens on schedule, and after a drawn-out fight, the young dragon slayer shoves her sword into the beast. As he fades away, so too does the destructive magic. However, it is somewhat implied that the magic isn't completely gone, not yet...

Powers/Abilities: Fire-breathing.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3-This dragon is certainly an imposing force, looking like a vivid cross between a western and an eastern variant. However, for as destructive as he is, he's ultimately a very tragic figure, not wanting to die or cause much trouble, yet at the same time knowing that it must be done so that nothing falls to calamity. Him being voiced by a guy from Swaziland also has something to do with it.

Trivia: -The dragon was voiced by Richard E. Grant, who has a history of appearing in works with huge European casts.

-This film was based off a novel of the same name, and the first in a trilogy. A fourth book has been in the works for some time, but there's no news yet.
